Rigoletto
This tragic story of a cursed, hunchback jester and the deadly fate of his innocent daughter is the setting for some of opera’s most memorable melodies. This Verdi classic is jam-packed with passionate, invigorating music including the aria “La donne è mobile.” This opera will feature Mary Dunleavy who was hailed for her portrayal of Violetta in La Traviata at the Lyric Opera in March of 2009 as well as powerhouse baritone Richard Paul Fink.

Bring the teenage girls in your life to the Opera for Teens production of One False Move, Wednesday March 31 at 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. at Kansas City Academy. This opera performed by area students in the Opera for Teens program was inspired by the national bestselling book, Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls, by author Rachel Simmons. Tickets can be purchased beginning on March 8 at the Lyric Opera Ticket office at 816-471-7344.

On Monday, April 5, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Morton Creditor will look at the history of the Don Juan story in a program called "Don Juan in Music and Literature: Centuries of Seduction." The presentation is located in the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library at 4801 Main St., Kansas City, MO. At Ease with Opera is presented free of charge by the Lyric Opera Guild.

On Monday, April 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Morton Creditor will discuss the fascinating life of Mozart's librettist, Lorenzo Da Ponte, in a presentation entitled "Lorenzo Da Ponte: Ghetto Jew, Venetian Priest, Poet, Librettist, Merchant and Columbia University Professor." The presentation is located at the Kauffman Foundation, 4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO. At Ease with Opera is presented free of charge by the Lyric Opera Guild.
