Endowment

The Lyric Opera of Kansas City's endowment is a separate entity from the Opera. The Lyric Opera of Kansas City Foundation is governed by its own board made up of three Lyric Opera Board members, and four non-Opera Board members.

The Endowment Campaign was completed in 2003. The goal of $10 million was surpassed with a total of $10.5 million raised.

The endowment consits of funds established to generate income in perpetuity. An endowment yields income to stabilize ticket prices, help cushion the Opera against economic downturns, and provide financial security to continue the company's artistic and outreach programs.
