Lyric & Leathers: A Ride for the Lyric Opera

Opera fans and music-makers consistently break the mold and are helping to prove that opera can be hip, young and not as stuffy as people think. In an attempt to shatter the stodgy stereotype of opera the Lyric Opera of Kansas City has crated an annual fundraiser, Lyric & Leathers. Participants can put on their favorite jeans and join the group for a two-hour motorcycle ride that starts at the Lyric Theatre, lunch, raffle and much more!

The idea for Lyric & Leathers came about after realizing that many of the Lyric Opera patrons and staff members, like Maestro Holmquist, are avid riders. Many Lyric board members and community business executives take part in the ride. Bank of Blue Valley President Bob Regnier loved the idea so much that he rides in the event every year. Regnier states, "The Lyric Opera is an important organization in the Kansas City arts scene and the arts are very important to the economic growth of the City. I like to participate in and sponsor this event because a motorcycle ride is a fun alternative to a 'typical' fundraiser."
